I want to thank everyone who voted on my little survey over the past few days.
When you were saved...
1. You chose Christ over your sin.
2. Christ chose you in that He knew how you would respond to the Gospel.
3. Christ chose you before the foundation of the world knowing you could not choose Him over your sin.
I enjoyed seeing the variety of answers though one was dominate. I would like to know who voted what so I would ask if you voted please leave a comment telling what you believe and why. After I get about 10 responses telling me what you said I might just do a post on what I believe about all this. Thank you so much and I look forward to learning...

oh and btw i love the pics you put up of your siblings! when i looked at the one of naomi for the first time in my life i saw a resemblance of you in her. idk what it was but when i saw that pic i was like wow she kinda looks like lydia.

Anyway, for the poll I chose number three, because God chose us before we ever accepted Him.

I forgot to mention: Another thing we have in common is a 2-year-old in our family; mine is a little sister, who we adopted last year! I also have an older sister, 18, and a younger brother, 15.

Hi - you commented onmy blog a while ago and I just decided to sheck your out again. I saw this and I just wanted to let you know that I voted for #3 (being reformed baptist, I guess that you could have guesed that). I think that the Bible so clearly teaches man's depravity and his spiritual deadness. How can one who is dead choose to do anything? Choosing Christ would be a righteous deed on our part, and how could a sinner perform a righteous work ("not by works of righteousness which we had done, but according to His mercy, He saved us")?
Anyway, those are my thoughts!
Well, I didn't even know about your blog until today when, like Emily I clicked one of my interest links(flute) and yours was the top of the list and when I saw in your profile that you were a Christian (not just claiming it but really were one) I went to your blog. So I missed the poll. But I hope it's ok if I post anyway.
I believe it is number 3. 'Christ chose you before the foundation of the world knowing you could not choose Him over your sin.'
I believe this because of
Ephesians 2:7-9 which says "in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast."
That makes it pretty clear that we do nothing. Not even our faith is our own. To say that we chose God or that He chose us because He knew we would accept Him in the future would be boasting of works. So I believe that God chooses us with the knowledge that we are unable to turn from our sin and choose Him. And even the faith that we had in believing in Him was given to us by God. So yeah, I definitely believe in the total depravity of man.

It's kind of late to be commenting, I didn't even vote but I'll tell you what I believe. I agree with number one, that we choose God over our sin.
What type of God would God be, if he did not give us a choice? If he gave some the gift of eternal life, and others he condemned to hell? And,why? Are we so prideful as to believe that God chose us over others for no obvious reason?
If that was so, then why did Jesus come to Earth? Why did he spread the gospel and teach others to do so too? Why did he tell us to "Go and sin no more," if none of this even mattered in our salvation, if we couldn't even do what he asked for anyway? Why do we make a point to lead holy lives, if we can allow ouselves to follow the ways of this world, and still go to heaven for eternity?
Isn't God a just God? I God is just(and the does bible say that he is), then we do have a choice. We can choose Him, or our sin.
